I Won't Wish You Happiness
Sometimes you just need to go out and buy bigger pants.

I’m never ready for New Year’s resolutions or setting intentions for the new year on January 1st. I’m the kind of person who packs their suitcase the night before (or at least around 75% of the way there) and spends three hours writing one line of lyrics. You’re gonna thrive in your own ways, and if gut decisions or consistency aren’t part of yours, don’t worry about it. Don’t buy into someone else’s idea of optimization or success. There’s nothing wrong with testing new waters - sometimes that’s exactly the inspiration you need - but hold onto at least a fistful of skepticism. It’s good to try new things and see what sticks, but I think long term suffering - mentally or emotionally - for some perceived gain is mostly bullshit. Yes, growth can mean sharp edges and challenges to work through and sometimes you need to have your ass kicked in a new direction, but sometimes you just need to go out and buy bigger pants. You are you, the only you there is, here existing in this time and place against pretty crazy odds, so it should come as no surprise that you won’t be designed to strive for and desire the same things as anybody else.
I don’t know where I’m really going with this… but I hope 2024 is the year you start to really trust yourself and your way of making decisions. I hope you figure out how to be more present in your days, in the ways that work for you, and you cultivate the kind of appreciation for yourself and your unique contributions to the collective that you’ve so far only reserved for others. I won’t wish you happiness, but I will wish you whatever experience living a life aligned with your innate being brings to you, be it success, surprise, satisfaction or peace.
Much Love,
Viss 💙
